About The 418 Project
Located in downtown Santa Cruz, The 418 Project is a community center that produces, promotes and participates in cross cultural events and activities which support & sustain:
Artistic and personal growth
and
Creative expression
Our center is a vessel for personal and collective expression. It unites families and friends in their vision of a world where community, cross cultural arts, and the development of human potential is of utmost importance.
Our daily schedule includes African dance and drumming, samba dance, Brazilian martial arts and drumming, modern dance, community dance jams, and more. The 2300 sq. ft. studio is available as a rehearsal space/performance venue for a variety of music, dance and theater events.
The 418 is home to the Batizado de Raizes capoeira school and the Make Our Voices Empowered (MOVE) youth arts program.
The vibrant Jumping Monkey Cafe offers delicious natural Indian cuisine in our lobby.

Evenings we open our doors to events produced by members of the greater community. These include live rock, folk, punk and hip-hop shows, DJ dance parties, private parties, performance art events, theater and dance performances.
Some of our recent evening events have included: Weaving One Piece at a Time (a mix of aerial dance and yoga); Under One Roof (a showcase of talent by 418 teachers and students); and The Human Condition (a benefit performance featuring artists from New York to Santa Cruz).
We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the artistic and cultural fabric of Santa Cruz County, and look forward to continuing this work with YOU!
